Dave Ranney is our new golf professional for the 2010 season. Ranney is in his 18th year of being a PGA Professional and has been in the golf business for 23 years. Dave graduated from Graceland University, in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1984 with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, he moved to Austin, Texas to work for Golfsmith, Inc. After 3 ½ years there, Dave decided to try playing golf for a “living”. Dave writes; “I played mini-tour golf for a year including the Dakota Tour and a few tours in Florida. After a year of playing on the mini-tours my first child, Trent, was born and I found that I had no desire to be away from my family. I was offered a job as an assistant pro at Great Hills Country Club in Austin, Texas. A year later I was offered the head pro job at Georgetown Country Club in Georgetown, Texas. I was there for 3 ½ years, my daughter Kyla was born, and my wife Sandy and I decided to move to Iowa. We moved here 15 years ago where I have been the Head Professional at Lamoni C.C. I have also been an instructor with the J.D. Turner Golf Schools for the past 8 years. Eight years ago our third child, Cooper, was born. My wife, Sandy, who was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, is a first grade teacher and this year will mark our 25th wedding anniversary. My oldest son, Trent, is a sophomore at Graceland University. My daughter, Kyla, is a sophomore in high school. My youngest son, Cooper, is in second grade.” Please welcome Dave and his family to Newton. We are happy to have you join our family of friends.
